Alcohol Delivery in South Australia (SA)

  • Updated

The passing of the Liquor Licensing (Miscellaneous) Amendment Bill 2019 changed the curfew for all alcohol deliveries. Currently, all alcohol deliveries must be completed between 8am and 10pm.

Age Verification

South Australian law requires age verification if the recipient appears underage. A signed declaration (sign on glass) must be obtained and kept for 12 months. For more details, see here.

Due to health and safety concerns, Sherpa no longer uses the sign on glass function and now uses mandatory age verification instead. For alcohol deliveries (excluding next day/non-scheduled alcohol deliveries with authority to leave granted), Sherpa drivers must request and sight a valid ID before completing the delivery.

Sherpa's Age and Identity Verification:
As part of our age and identity verification, Sherpa driver partners will ask to see a valid ID and record the following in the app:
  • Type of ID
  • Date of Birth
  • Name on ID

If the specified recipient is not available at the delivery address, or the specified recipient or the recipient is showing signs of intoxication, or is believed to be under 18 years of age, a paid return will be logged back to the store.
